Sergey was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia on January 24th , 1969. His creative and artistic talents were recognized at an early age. He was encouraged to attend art school and began studying art by the age of eight. During that time Sergey discovered his absolute love of art and decided to devote his life to it.
After completing his first few years of school, Sergey knew he wanted to attend one of the most prestigious art schools in Europe, the Serovo Art Institute. After being accepted at the school, his education focused extensively on all the classic forms of art including European art history, photography, printing process, sculpture, restoration methods, and painting. His subject matter in painting at this time was everything from still life to portraits. It was not until later in life that he turned to the fantastical landscapes for which he is so well known.
Sergey’s images reflect his passion for French Impressionism and his love of color. Imagination, fuelled by a lifetime of wanderlust is the key to his lively landscapes. Energy flows from his paintings with a gentile yet powerful force that can keep one captivated for a lifetime. His bold colors are applied primarily with a palette knife and minimal brush strokes. He layers one thick hue over the next to create his final image and will sometimes paint the entire canvas black before even starting his piece. Sergey chooses to paint either oil on canvas or oil on paper. His oil on paper pieces are framed in glass for better preservation.
Sergey’s work has been exhibited in several European galleries and in his home country of Russia in Saint Petersburg and Moscow, as well as in galleries across the United States.
